Terms of Service
Effective September 20, 2026
Famile is a private place for a family to keep its photos, videos, voice notes and stories. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use it. Please read them; the short version is: be kind, share only what you have the right to share, and know that we remove abuse fast.
The short version
A summary to make it easy. The full text below is what counts.
-
13 and over
Accounts are for 13 and over; under 16, only with a parent or guardian's consent. Younger children are profiles their relatives add and are responsible for.
-
Everything you share stays yours
We only get the permission we need to store it, show it to your family and delete it when you ask.
-
A kind place for every family
We remove harassment, hate, nudity and abuse within 24 hours and suspend or close the account responsible, sometimes without a warning first.
-
Children come first
We remove anything that puts a child at risk within 24 hours, and we always report it to the authorities.
-
If a plan ends, every memory stays
When a plan ends, new uploads pause until there's room, and nothing you kept is ever removed to make space.
-
Leave any time
Step out of a family or delete your account, with 30 days to change your mind and a choice of what stays with the family.
1. Who we are and what you're agreeing to
Famile is a product of Validera (validera.co), which operates it ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Famile you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Famile.
If you use Famile on behalf of a child or another relative — by adding their profile, photos or stories — you confirm that you're allowed to do so and you take responsibility for it.
2. Who may have an account
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or sign in. We check your date of birth when you first sign in — the one a relative gave when they added you, or the one you give us — and we refuse accounts under 13.
If you are 13 to 15, you may have an account only once a parent or guardian has agreed. They do this when they add you to their family with your birthday and phone number, by confirming that they are your parent or guardian and agree that you use Famile. That adult is responsible for supervising how you use it, and can end your access at any time by removing your number or your profile, or by writing to us. You cannot start a family or run one until you are 16.
Younger family members can still be part of the family: an adult adds them as a profile in the family tree, and that adult is responsible for what is shared about them. A profile is not an account and has no login until its holder is old enough and claims it.
One person, one account. Keep your phone number and email current: they are how you sign in and how we reach you about your account.
3. Your family, your content
Everything you post — photos, videos, voice notes, captions, comments, wall posts, profiles you create — stays yours. You give us the permission we need to store it, make it quick to open (resized copies, thumbnails, transcoded video), show it to the members of your family you've chosen, back it up and, when you ask, delete it. We never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never train AI on it.
You are responsible for what you share. Only share photos, videos and information about other people — especially children — if they would be comfortable with your family seeing it, and if you have the right to share it. If someone in a photo asks you to take it down, please do; they can also remove their own tag or ask us.
A private circle shows its content only to the people in it. A private wall post is between you and the person whose wall it is. Everything else is visible to your whole family, and a family admin can remove any content in their family.
4. What is not allowed
Famile is for families. The following are not allowed anywhere in it — in posts, photos, videos, voice notes, comments, wall posts, profiles or names:
- Harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation of anyone, inside or outside your family.
- Hateful content: attacks on people for their religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar.
- Nudity, pornography or sexually explicit content. Any sexual content involving a child, real or drawn, is reported to the authorities without exception.
- Graphic violence, gore, or content that glorifies violence or self-harm.
- Content that is illegal where you or we are, or that you don't have the right to share (someone else's private photos, copyrighted material).
- Pretending to be someone you are not, or creating profiles of real people to mock or deceive.
- Spam, scams, unsolicited advertising, or attempts to collect other members' personal information.
- Anything that breaks the law or another person's rights.
We use an automatic filter on the words in posts and comments and it will refuse some of them; that filter is a first line, not the rule. The rule is this list, and our judgement.
5. Zero tolerance, and what we do about it
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive members. When something is reported, or when we find it ourselves, we act within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these rules, and we suspend or permanently close the accounts responsible. Serious cases — especially anything involving a child — are reported to law enforcement.
A suspended account cannot sign in to any family. We may not warn you first, and a paid plan is not refunded when an account is closed for breaking these rules. If you believe we got it wrong, write to [email protected] and we'll look again.
6. Reporting and blocking
Every post, photo, comment and profile has a Report option in its menu. When you report something it disappears from your view immediately, your family's admin is told, and our safety team is emailed. You can also write to [email protected] directly.
You can block any family member from their profile. Neither of you will see the other's posts, photos or comments, and neither can tag, mention or reply to the other. The other person is not told.
7. Child safety standards
Famile is built around family photos, which means children are in them. We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation in every form, including sexual content involving minors, grooming, sextortion, and the sharing of any such material. We act on every report of it within 24 hours, remove the material, preserve what the law requires us to preserve, close the account, and report to the relevant authority (in the United States the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, elsewhere the national body). Our child safety point of contact is [email protected].
Adults who add children's profiles and photos are responsible for them. Please share only what the child would be comfortable with when they grow up and claim their profile.
8. Your account and its security
Keep your sign-in method safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it. You can see and end every device you're signed in on from Settings.
A family admin can add and remove members, manage private circles, remove content and hand the admin role to someone else. The admin is not a key to private circles they are not in.
9. Plans and payment
Famile has a free plan with a storage limit and paid plans with more. A plan covers the whole family, and anyone in it can pay. Plans are bought on our website, not inside the mobile apps, and payments are processed by Paymob. Prices are in Egyptian pounds in Egypt and in US dollars everywhere else; the price you see before paying is the price you pay.
A plan bought on our website is a card subscription that renews automatically -- every 30 days on a monthly plan, every 360 days on a yearly one -- at the price you subscribed at, until it is cancelled. The person paying or the family admin can cancel or change it at any time from the Plan page. After cancelling, the family keeps the plan until the end of the time already paid for and nothing more is charged; moving to a bigger plan starts at once, for the difference in price over the time left in the period, and moving to a smaller one starts at the next renewal. Payments already made are not refunded for unused time, except where the law requires it.
A gift is a single payment, by card or mobile wallet, for a plan for one month, one year or three years. Its code can be redeemed on our website within 12 months of purchase; the time starts when it is redeemed, after any time the family has already paid for.
Prices, limits and what happens when a plan lapses are on the plans page. A lapsed plan never deletes your photos; it stops new uploads until there is room.
10. Leaving, and deleting your account
You can step out of a family (deactivate) and come back later, or delete your account for good — from Settings (on our website, an account with a phone number can start it at famile.org/delete-account with a code sent to that number; any other account signs in and lands on Delete account). When you delete your account you choose whether the photos and posts you added stay with your family (attributed to "a former member") or go with you. Either way, deletion is scheduled for 30 days, during which you can cancel by signing in; after that your details are erased and files you chose to remove are removed from our storage.
We may close accounts that break these Terms, and we may close Famile itself with at least 90 days' notice and a way to download your data.
11. Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep Famile available and your photos safe, and we keep copies in more than one place, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted or that nothing will ever be lost. Keep your own copies of what matters most. To the extent the law allows, Famile is provided as it is, and our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights the law gives you as a consumer.
12. Changes, law and contact
When we change these Terms in a way that matters we'll ask you to read and accept them again the next time you sign in. These Terms are governed by the law of [country]; the courts of [city] have jurisdiction, without taking away protections your local consumer law gives you.
